Chartered accountants, and most chartered certified accountants, train with one of the established accountancy firms in the island. This involves in-house courses and in-depth training away from the office, locally or in the UK.

The Guernsey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants (GSCCA) runs relevant courses and organises social events, which give local accountants the chance to get to know one another. (See www.gscca.gg for more details).

Some people, who do not work for an accountancy firm, study alone, either through a correspondence course or by attending training courses. Everyone has to do a lot of study at home, in his or her own time, particularly near to the exams. It is very hard work and you have to remind yourself that it will be worth it in the end.
